Around 180 families affected by floods in recent weeks received humanitarian aid
Around 180 families affected by the floods in recent weeks have received humanitarian aid. The assistance is provided by the Red Cross Society of Moldova and local public authorities.
According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (MLSP), the families received blankets, bed linen, sets of dishes and kitchenware, as well as other basic necessities. In the coming period, another 154 families are to benefit from aid.
“From the very first days after the floods, social workers mobilized in the field, carried out home visits, assessed the situation in the communities and provided support to people who could not travel, ensuring that assistance was directed to those most affected. We stand by every affected family and continue to identify additional resources to help them,” the MLSP emphasized.
In the Republic of Moldova, in recent weeks, heavy rains have been recorded, causing local flooding, especially in districts in the central and southern parts of the country. The most affected localities were in the districts of Ialoveni, Strășeni, Nisporeni, Căușeni, Telenești, Anenii Noi, and the municipality of Chișinău, where dozens of households, cellars, and basements were flooded.
