MPs urged to take part in blood donation campaign

MP Ludmila Adamciuc issued an appeal in the plenary of Parliament calling on her colleagues to participate in a blood donation campaign, emphasizing the medical system’s constant need for life‑saving transfusions.

The parliamentarian noted that the elected representatives found unusual letters on their desks, sent in the name of patients and meant to draw attention to the realities in hospitals across the Republic of Moldova. Behind these messages, she said, lies a daily situation in which more than 100 patients depend on blood transfusions to survive.

“Each of you received a letter on your desk, rather uncommon for the legislative routine. It is the letter of a person who is alive today because, at a critical moment, someone they will never meet chose to donate blood,” Adamciuc said.

She stressed that behind these messages there is a constant and difficult medical reality.

“More than 100 patients in the Republic of Moldova depend every day on a transfusion to survive. We are talking about accident victims, oncology patients, but especially about the most vulnerable among us: newborns and mothers facing severe complications at birth,” the MP added.

She emphasized that blood cannot be produced artificially or replaced by other means.

“Unfortunately, blood cannot be produced in a laboratory, cannot be bought from a pharmacy, and cannot be replaced by any budget allocation, no matter how generous. Its only source is human solidarity,” Adamciuc said.

The parliamentarian called on her colleagues to take part in a blood donation event organized in Chișinău.

“I invite you, dear colleagues, to put aside the political agenda for a few dozen minutes and join this initiative, to personally make that vital contribution that a person, a parent or a child needs,” she said.

The blood donation event will take place on Monday, June 15, in Chișinău.
