Moldovan government launches call for participation in drafting Report on implementation of 2030 Agenda

The government has launched a call for participation in the process of drafting the second Voluntary National Review (VNR) on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The call targets representatives of civil society, academia, the private sector, development partners, public authorities and all interested stakeholders, inviting them to be actively involved in the drafting, consultation and communication process related to the second Voluntary National Review on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. All contributions and recommendations can be sent to planificare@gov.md.

The drafting of the 2026 Voluntary National Review represents an important step in strengthening transparency, monitoring progress and identifying challenges in Moldova’s path towards sustainable, inclusive and equitable development.

The report will be presented at the UN High-Level Political Forum, which will take place in July 2026, with the title, Transformative, equitable, innovative and coordinated actions for the 2030 Agenda and for a sustainable future for all.

The 2026 Voluntary National Review will present the progress achieved for all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and will include an in-depth analysis of the following SDGs: 6 Clean water and sanitation, 7 Affordable and clean energy, 9 Industry, innovation and infrastructure, 11 Sustainable cities and communities and 17 Partnerships for the goals. The drafting process will involve central and local public authorities, the private sector, civil society, academia and development partners, with the support of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Moldova.

The 2030 Agenda was adopted by Moldova in September 2015, together with the other 192 member states of the United Nations. In 2016, the country completed the process of nationalizing the SDGs, developing a comprehensive set of indicators for monitoring and evaluation, and establishing baseline targets, intermediate targets for 2023 and final target values for 2030.

The first Voluntary National Review was drafted in 2020 and was presented at the 16th session of the UN High-Level Political Forum, reaffirming Moldova’s commitment to sustainable development.
