Moldovan official, Israeli ambassador discuss results of bilateral work agreement
Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/-Acting Labour, Social Protection and Family Minister Mircea Buga held a meeting with non-resident Israeli Ambassador to Moldova Oren David today. The latter said more than 2,100 Moldovan citizens had been officially hired in construction works in Israel since 2013 until now.
According to a press release of the Labour, Social Protection and Family Ministry, 2,100 Moldovan citizens were employed in construction works in over 20 Israeli companies, based on individual work contracts. Candidates were selected in compliance with the provisions of the Moldovan-Israeli bilateral agreement for 2013-2015 on the temporary employment of Moldovan citizens in the construction field in Israel. The agreement entered into force in 2013.
Five out of the agreement’s six stages had been implemented so far. A number of 2,574 Moldovan citizens applied for the sixth stage; their professional competencies in the field of form-work and armature are being examined during 7-18 December.
In order to facilitate the selection and employment of the personnel in Israel, the Israeli official suggested the opening of a construction school in Moldova. The sides had also discussed a potential visit Moldovan officials could pay to Israel in order to monitor the observance of the provisions of the individual work contract. According to them, this would increase the degree of Moldovan citizens’ social protection. Buga had also touched upon the opportunity to expand the provisions of the agreement in the field of home-care services.
“In spite of the current acting government, we hope for a new cabinet of ministers with full powers, as soon as possible. This way, we will be able to resume the Moldovan-Israeli negotiations on the draft of the agreement on social security,” the Moldovan official said. The sides agreed to hold the next round of talks in the first quarter of 2016. Moldovan-Israeli negotiations on the draft of the agreement on social security started in Chisinau in November 2014.
