Moldovan parliament makes new appointments to commissions supervising ethics, integrity in justice, Prosecutor's Office

The parliament of Moldova today approved four draft resolutions, under which new members were appointed to the Commissions for External Evaluation of Ethic and Financial Integrity of Judges and Prosecutors.

Thus, Gerrit-Marc Sprenger, Marcel van de Wetering and Iulian Rusu were appointed as members of the Commission for Evaluation of Judges and Candidates for the position of Judge of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ). The candidacies of Sprenger and Van de Wetering were put forward by development partners and Iulian Rusu was put forward proposed by faction of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS). Their professional experience includes over 20-30 years in the field of justice, with activities in such countries as the Netherlands, Albania and at national institutions.

Also, Pierangelo Padova, Laura Oana Stefan, and Ion Graur were appointed as members of the Commission for External of Prosecutors. The candidacies of Padova and Stefan come from development partners, and Ion Graur is put forward by PAS. They have extensive experience in the field of law, acquired in Italy, Romania, and international organizations, such as the European Commission and the Council of Europe.

The evaluation commissions are made up of nine members each, appointed with the votes of 3/5 of the elected MPs, and five of these members are put forward by development partners. These structures aim to ensure the ethic and financial integrity of the magistrates and prosecutors from Moldova.
