Moldovan servicemen of KFOR-23 contingent return from Kosovo

The servicemen of the 23rd contingent of the National Army, deployed as part of the international KFOR peacekeeping operation, have returned from Kosovo after completing their mission.

The ceremony dedicated to this occasion was attended by the leadership of the Defence Ministry and the National Army, representatives of diplomatic missions, military attachés, as well as the soldiers’ relatives.

During the event, Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii expressed his appreciation to the contingent’s soldiers for carrying out their missions at the highest level in the theatre of operations, a fact also acknowledged by the KFOR command.

“Through the performance of our military, we make our voice heard and our presence felt internationally. This matters enormously and confirms that we are a reliable partner in the joint commitment to peace and stability. Thank you for the mission you have successfully accomplished,” said Anatolie Nosatii.

As a sign of gratitude for the activity carried out during the mandate, more peacekeepers received certificates and distinctions.

During the six-month mission, the 41 Moldovan servicemen carried out guard and defence missions for infrastructure objects of strategic importance, ensured the security of the Camp Villaggio Italia base, including the Visoki Dečani Monastery, as well as engineering reconnaissance missions and the detection of explosive objects in the area of responsibility.

The National Army has been participating in the KFOR peacekeeping mission since 2014, with each deployment reaffirming its consistent commitment to regional security and stability.
