
National Food Safety Agency to boost up Moldovan food market inspections
Chisinau, 18 April /MOLDPRES/-In the context of the upcoming Easter holidays and the high temperatures outside, the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) will boost up inspections at food markets, in order to prevent the sale of poor-quality and unhealthy products.
ANSA director general, Gheorghe Gaberi during a news conference today said all Moldovan economic agents who trade animal and vegetal products will be inspected. “We will especially focus on the quality of products, storage and selling conditions, as well as on the documents certifying the origin of the products. Our priority is to ensure citizens with high-quality food products,” Gaberi emphasized.
A total of one million food samples will be collected from more than 120 food groups, in order to be investigated in Moldovan and foreign laboratories.
ANSA director general said the institution was endowed with a modern laboratory, which allows experts to establish with the help of only one sample analysis of the residual components, whether the products exceed the standard amount of chemical fertilizers recommended by experts or not.
According to data of the National Center for Public Health, from Chisinau, 338 cases of acute intoxication were registered in Chisinau in January-March 2016. Almost half of them had been registered among children.
