New rules set for employment at Moldova's State Protection and Guard Service
Chisinau, 6 May /MOLDPRES/ - Young people who have turned 18 years might become officers of the State Protection and Guard Service (SPPS). The parliament’s juridical commission for rules and immunities, which held an online meeting today, approved a draft on the amendment of the law on SPPS.
Thus, the new law will clearly define the category of Moldova’s officials who will benefit from state’s protection. It is about the Moldovan president, parliament speaker, prime minister, the former president of Moldova during a four-year period, the former parliament speaker and the former prime minister for a one-year period, if the former officials held the concerned position for at least one year.
The legislation will be completed also in terms of the SPPS’ rights. The institution will be able to ask for the authorization of introducing arms and ammunitions by the staff of the counterpart services from abroad, which ensures the security of foreign officials who stay in Moldova; to authorize the use of the air space by airships without pilots, which make flights of air-photographing and filming at the working headquarters, residences, as well as at the locations where protection missions are carried out; to intervene for the prevention and counteraction of actions able to endanger the life, physical integrity, health and freedom of action of the persons benefitting from state protection; to undertake measures for providing medical, prophylactic and therapeutic assistance to people benefiting from state protection.
The conditions of employment of SPPS employees will be amended too. Thus, young people who turned 18 will be able to get employed at SPPS, with the current provisions seeing the age of 21 years. At the same time, the protection officers will be able to be detached to international organizations and public administration authorities for fulfilling duties in the state’s interest.
