PHOTO // European Commissioner for Enlargement meets mayors of Moldova: EU to help modernize another 20 schools

European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos in Chisinau has met a group of mayors from various regions of Moldova, continuing the dialogue launched in Brussels in August 2025.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the priorities of local communities and the ways the European Union’s support can more effectively address the needs of citizens across the country.

According to the Delegation of the European Union to Moldova, European support is already reflected in numerous projects implemented locally. Thus, the European Union will contribute to the modernization of another 20 schools of Moldova and will continue to finance projects aimed at community development through the European Village programme.

The investments target such areas as local infrastructure, public services and the improvement of living conditions for citizens, contributing to the sustainable development of localities throughout the country.

Representatives of local public administrations discussed with the European official the challenges faced by the communities they represent, as well as the opportunities provided by Moldova’s European path.

The European Union’s Delegation emphasized that European integration meant tangible benefits for people, from more modern schools and more efficient public services to better local infrastructure and new opportunities for economic and social development in communities.
