Five recycling companies to receive up to 425,000 euros to develop circular economy in Moldova

Five recycling companies in the Republic of Moldova will receive financial support totaling up to 425,000 euros to develop waste management and recycling activities. The funding is provided by the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme under the Enabling an Inclusive Green Transition in the Republic of Moldova project.

The announcement was made in the context of the conference “Circular Economy in the Republic of Moldova: Data, Solutions and Investments for Recycling,” attended by Grigore Stratulat, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Environment.

During the event, participants discussed the development of the recycling industry, the modernization of existing capacities, and attracting investments in the field of waste management. The importance of using accurate data on waste flows for developing public policies and decisions tailored to real conditions on the ground was also highlighted. The conference agenda also included topics related to the management of packaging waste, waste electrical and electronic equipment, batteries and accumulators, as well as the application of the extended producer responsibility principle.

According to the Ministry of Environment, the financial support granted to the five companies will be used to purchase equipment, services and technical assistance necessary for the development of recycling activities. The investments aim to increase the amount of waste collected and recycled, as well as to transform it into reusable resources.
