VIDEO // Road stays blocked in central Moldova; road crews continue interventions

Heavy rainfall in recent hours has caused traffic difficulties on more national and regional roads of Moldova. According to the National Roads’ Administration (AND), road maintenance teams have intervened in emergency mode, in order to eliminate the effects of the bad weather and ensure traffic safety.

“Presently, the G82.1 road in the city of Straseni remains temporarily blocked, and intervention teams are continuing the necessary work to reopen traffic under safe conditions,” AND announced.

Approximately 30 road workers and more than 20 specialized machines have been mobilized, in order to remove the consequences of the rains. They intervened on the affected segments to restore traffic and prevent potential risk situations.

Intervention works were carried out in the districts of Causeni, Ialoveni, Sangerei, Straseni, Glodeni, and Drochia, including in the localities of Puhoi and Tipala, where the heavy precipitation caused significant accumulations of water and debris on the roadway.

Road crews performed cleaning works to remove mud and debris from the carriageway, unclog culverts and rainwater drainage systems, as well as remove branches and trees that had fallen as a result of the adverse weather conditions.

In the context of the Yellow Code for atmospheric instability remaining in force, the State Roads’ Administration urges drivers to exercise enhanced caution, adapt their speed to road conditions and follow the instructions of the authorities and field teams. The situation continues to be monitored and interventions will continue wherever necessary.
