VIDEO // Car swept away by floodwaters, four people evacuated in central Moldova districts; authorities intervene in more localities
The Police of Moldova report that heavy rainfall has once again affected road infrastructure and traffic in more areas of the country, with no casualties recorded.
In the locality of Carbuna, Ialoveni district, a car was swept away by water that had accumulated after the rains and pushed into a drainage canal. Fortunately, no victims were reported.
The road connecting the localities of Homuteanovca and Gangura is also temporarily blocked due to water accumulation.
In the locality of Panasesti, Straseni district, four people were evacuated from a car that was stuck in a flooded area, with the help of intervention teams.
At the same time, on the R-1 route in the Capriana area, road traffic was completely suspended due to unfavorable weather conditions and massive water accumulation on the roadway.
Intervention teams continue to pump water out of households and basements, clear blocked roads and provide the necessary assistance to the affected population.
In the context of the Yellow Code for atmospheric instability, with thunderstorms and heavy rain, the authorities have mobilized all institutions responsible for managing emergency situations. At the national level, the situation is being coordinated with the involvement of public order, civil protection, road infrastructure and transport, health, environment, energy and local public administration structures.
Decision-makers urge the population to follow safety recommendations, avoid traveling during severe weather events, not to cross water-covered roads and to seek information exclusively from official sources. People facing dangerous situations are urged to immediately call the 112 emergency service.
