
Over 2,300 drivers sanctioned for weekend traffic violations
Chisinau, Aug. 5 /MOLDPRES/- Over 2,300 drivers were penalized for violating traffic regulations over the weekend. According to the police, 34 drivers were found driving in a state of advanced drunkenness and removed from driving.
Among the most frequent violations reported by patrol inspectors was exceeding the speed limit - 1,012 drivers were penalized.
Another 418 drivers did not obey road signs, 291 drivers stopped their means of transportation in prohibited places; 97 of the traffic participants were fined for not wearing seatbelts and talking on the phone while driving. 64 drivers failed to yield the right of way to pedestrians.
Patrol officers intervened in 187 emergencies reported to the emergency number 112.
