Moldova–NATO cooperation discussed in Chisinau

Chair of the NATO Military Committee Giuseppe Cavo Dragone is paying an official visit to Chișinău, during which he had meetings with Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii and Commander of the National Army Vitalie Micov.

The discussions focused on cooperation between Moldova and NATO within the Partnership for Peace, the regional security situation and the challenges triggered  by the war in Ukraine, as well as reforms in the national defence sector.

The officials agreed to continue the implementation of projects under the Individual Partnership Action Plan for the period 2025–2028 and of initiatives from the Defence Capacity Building Package, considered essential for modernizing the National Army.

During the press statements, Vitalie Micov and Giuseppe Cavo Dragone highlighted the results of more than 30 years of cooperation between Moldova and NATO, with an emphasis on strengthening defence capabilities and countering hybrid threats.

For his part, the NATO official underlined the importance of deepening the political and military dialogue and practical cooperation, including in such areas as military training, human resources management, strategic communication and cyber security.

The visit is taking place between on March 18-20 and includes meetings with representatives of the Presidency and government of Moldova.
