Water supply restored in north Moldova today as of 13:00
The spokesperson of the government of Moldova, Daniela Crudu, has said that, starting at 13:00 on March 19, 2026, the technical process of water supply in the northern area of Moldova had been resumed.
According to her, water delivery to consumers is expected to be gradually restored within a timeframe of 6 to 12 hours.
The government representative specified that, over the next 48 hours, the water is to be used only for household purposes.
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu today announced the resumption of drinking water supply in the districts of Balti, Soroca, Sangerei and Floresti, following the confirmation of safety indicators through laboratory tests. The decision comes after a period of interruption caused by the need for technical interventions at the Cosauti pumping station.
According to the PM, the supply process is being carried out in stages, under the monitoring of the technical teams that worked to remedy the situation. Recent water quality tests have shown that the quality falls within safe limits for human consumption, which allowed the reopening of distribution networks to the settlements hit.
At the same time, the Environment Ministry is installing seven new absorbent barriers to stop pollution on the Dniester River.
The installation of seven new absorbent barriers on the Dniester River is the main intervention action planned by the Environment Ministry for today, in order to limit the spread of pollution caused by oil products. Minister Gheorghe Hajder is coordinating the activities carried out by technical teams in the northern and central sectors of the river basin.
