PHOTOS // Head of state, at National Wine Day, says Moldovan wine getting better, reaching farther around the world

President Maia Sandu today participated in events dedicated to the 25th edition of National Wine Day, where she discussed this year’s harvest, work in the vineyards and the markets where Moldovan wines are sold.

The head of state noted that, during the event, she met producers with decades of experience, family wineries and young people who had chosen to make wine at home.

“An entire year of their work is behind each bottle,” Maia Sandu said in a message published on social media.

The president emphasized that Moldovan wine was expanding its presence on international markets, while Moldova is being visited by an increasing number of tourists interested in local wines and the country’s wineries.

“With each passing year, Moldovan wine gets better and reaches farther around the world. And the world is coming to us: more and more guests from other countries are visiting us for our wine, our wineries and the people who make it,” Maia Sandu said.

The head of state thanked the winemakers for their work and for their contribution to promoting Moldova abroad.

“I thank the winemakers for their work, which makes Moldova known and visited. Happy National Wine Day!” Maia Sandu said.

The 25th edition of National Wine Day was officially inaugurated on October 3, on Great National Assembly Square, under the theme, Wine That Unites Us. The event brought together wine producers, grape growers, representatives of the authorities, international partners and wine lovers from Moldova and abroad.
