Seven students of Moldova's Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy to receive state merit scholarships

Seven students of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) will receive state merit scholarships in the 2026–2027 academic year for academic performance and involvement in extracurricular activities.

According to the Order of the education and research minister, two USMF students will receive the Republic Scholarship, while five will benefit from the Government Scholarship. The Republic Scholarship will be awarded to Dionisie Cebotari, a fifth-year student in the Medicine program, and Kirill Ivanov, a fourth-year student in the Pharmacy programme.

The Government Scholarship will be awarded to students Marilena Ciobanu and Mirela Grati, both fourth-year students in the Dentistry programme, Alexandru Iarovoi and Victoria Preguza, sixth-year students in the Medicine programme, as well as Olimpia Pușcă, a fifth-year student in the Pharmacy programme.

One of the scholarship recipients, sixth-year Medicine student Alexandru Iarovoi, said that the results had been achieved through hard work and perseverance and urged other students to overcome their own limits.

“Do not be afraid to try new things, to do your very best in what you feel you enjoy, what you are attracted to and what you are naturally suited for, of course. Always overcome your own barriers and fears, so that you can achieve what you truly believe belongs to you and what you want to accomplish,” said Alexandru Iarovoi.

Students enrolled in full-time programmes who, during the summer examination session of the 2025–2026 academic year, achieved an average grade of at least 9 in the technical, agricultural, economic, medical, military, legal and science fields, and at least 9.5 in other fields, were eligible to participate in the competition.

Candidates were selected based on their grade average, participation in educational, research, cultural and sports activities, as well as the number of publications and other academic achievements.

In total, 42 students from higher education institutions of Moldova will receive merit scholarships. Twelve of them will receive the Republic Scholarship, worth 6,230 lei per month, while 30 will benefit from the Government Scholarship, worth 5,195 lei per month.

Starting from September 1, 2026, the amount of merit scholarships was increased by 40 per cent.
