Foreign Affairs Ministry condemns violation of Moldova’s airspace by five drones: “Russia’s war against Ukraine continues to generate concrete threats for Moldova”

The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) strongly condemns the violation of Moldova’s airspace by five drones flying over the country’s territory, amid the massive attacks carried out by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

According to the MAE, drone fragments were discovered in more areas of the country. They were identified outside the built-up area of Causeni, outside the village of Dubovca, central Hancesti district, between the localities of Delacau and Puhaceni, central Anenii Noi district, as well as near the settlement of Crocmaz, south-eastern Stefan Voda district.

The incident near Crocmaz caused a vegetation fire and material damage.

The MAE emphasizes that Russia’s war against Ukraine continues to generate concrete threats to Moldova and the security of the entire region.

The authorities of Moldova are monitoring the situation and documenting the circumstances of the incidents that occurred following the violation of the national airspace.

On October 1, the Foreign Affairs Ministry summoned Russia’s ambassador-designate to Moldova, Oleg Ozerov, and handed him a note of protest after three drones had violated Moldova’s airspace in a single day. Two of them fell and exploded on the country’s territory. Over the past seven days, the country’s airspace has been violated eight times.
