Prime Minister: Women in Moldova keep country moving

Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Alexandru Munteanu sent today a congratulatory message on International Women’s Day, in which he highlighted the role of women in the family, economy and public life.

In the message published on this occasion, the official said that women in the Republic of Moldova make an essential contribution to the development of society.

“Women in Moldova are strong, courageous, and incredibly dedicated. We admire them in our families, in schools and hospitals, in business, in agriculture, in state institutions, and in communities. Through their work, patience, and determination, they keep this country moving and give it hope,” said Alexandru Munteanu.

The Prime Minister also recalled the reflections of cultural figures on the role of women.

“The poet Grigore Vieru said simply and profoundly: ‘Woman is the beginning of all beginnings.’ And Queen Marie said that women have the rare gift of keeping the world together even when everything seems to be falling apart,” the Prime Minister noted.

At the same time, Alexandru Munteanu underlined that appreciation for women should be constant, not shown only on a single day of the year.

“We do not need a single day in the calendar for a woman to be appreciated; respect must be constant. But March 8 is a good opportunity to say, with more warmth, how much they matter,” the official declared.

The official also added that a modern society must offer women the freedom and opportunity to assert themselves through their own talent and work, and that the responsibility of the state is to create conditions in which they feel respected and free.

“Today we say from the heart: we respect you, we love you, we thank you. Happy International Women’s Day to all women!” Alexandru Munteanu conveyed.

International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8 in numerous countries around the world, including the Republic of Moldova, in order to highlight the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, as well as to draw attention to the gender inequalities that still exist.
