UPDATE: Heavy cross-border traffic eased in Leușeni

UPDATE: 10:08 a.m.

Leușeni Border Crossing Point: heavy cross-border traffic has been eased. Traffic is flowing smoothly, with minimal border-crossing times. Passenger and vehicle traffic is heavy on Thursday morning at the Leușeni border crossing point, on the outbound direction from the Republic of Moldova.

According to the Border Police, there is currently an increased flow of people and vehicles leaving the country through the Leușeni–Albița border crossing point. The authorities specify that the Entry/Exit System (EES), used for checks at the external borders of the European Union, is implemented at this border point. The application of this system involves additional verification procedures, which may affect the duration of border crossing.

To reduce waiting times, control teams are working at full capacity and are taking measures to streamline cross-border traffic. In this context, travelers are advised, where possible, to opt for other nearby border crossing points, such as Costești, Leova or Cahul.

The Border Police announces that it will return with updates if the situation on the ground changes.
