Protection guidelines for Moldovan citizens in Israel

Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Israel Alexandr Roitman announced an update of protection guidelines following the security situation assessment carried out by פיקוד העורף (Home Front Command Israel).

According to the diplomat, starting Thursday, 5 March 2026, at 12:00, all regions of the country will move from the strict policy level to the limited policy level. The measure is valid until Saturday, 7 March 2026, at 20:00.

During this period, no educational activities will be held. Public gatherings of up to 50 people are permitted, provided that participants can quickly reach a protected space during an alert. Work activities are also allowed in workplaces located in areas from which it is possible to reach an adequate protected space during an alert. Ambassador Alexandr Roitman urged Moldovan citizens on the territory of Israel to follow official information constantly and to comply with the authorities’ instructions.

“Each of us must ensure that we are prepared and know how to act in order to protect our lives and those of our loved ones. It is recommended to continue following the instructions published by the Home Front Command through official information channels,” the diplomat noted.

The authorities urge citizens to obtain information only from official sources and to follow safety recommendations during the indicated period. According to the official statements of the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Israel, approximately 15,000 Moldovan citizens live on the territory of the State of Israel, in various regions of the country. Only a small number of them have so far requested consular assistance in the context of security tensions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chișinău has confirmed that, at present, there are no recorded fatalities or injured persons among the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the region in connection with the security situation.

At the same time, there are requests for support for potential evacuations of Moldovan citizens in Israel or in other Middle Eastern states affected by air travel restrictions. The authorities in Chișinău are coordinating alternative transport solutions for people wishing to leave the area. Diplomatic data show that approximately 15 Moldovan citizens have requested consular assistance from the missions of the Republic of Moldova in the region in recent days.

The conflict in the Middle East continues, after military operations involving Iran, Israel and the United States of America, with the use of airstrikes, rockets and drones on multiple fronts. A national state of emergency has been declared in Israel in the context of escalating tensions with Iran. The measure has led to the closure of some schools and commercial activities, and civilian flights have been temporarily suspended.

Authorities describe the security situation as complex and volatile, with warnings that military operations may continue in the coming days or weeks, depending on the evolution of confrontations in the region.
