VIDEO // Large-scale intervention in Bălți: Authorities distribute water and deploy teams to manage crisis
The National Crisis Management Center (CNMC), in cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Moldova has intensified interventions in the municipality of Bălți amid water supply difficulties affecting several localities in the country.
Representatives of the central authorities took part in a meeting of the Commission for Exceptional Situations convened at the local level, where they analyzed developments on the ground, the immediate needs of the population, and options for additional support. At the same time, real-time intervention measures were coordinated, depending on how the situation evolves.
According to the CNMC, nearly 100 tons of drinking and technical water were distributed to affected residents during the previous day. The actions are continuing, with authorities announcing the deployment of 15 tank trucks and eight cisterns dedicated exclusively to the transport of drinking water, in order to cover the population’s immediate needs.
“The intervention in the municipality of Bălți was carried out through a coordinated national effort, with 25 technical units mobilized, providing a total transport capacity of over 95.5 tons of water. The assistance provided covered both direct water delivery to the population and the establishment of efficient logistics for the transport, storage, and distribution of water. At the same time, in other localities affected by the suspension of the water supply, the authorities have identified alternative solutions at the local level. Supply is ensured from artesian wells, underground sources, or through delivery by tank trucks, depending on the specific characteristics of each area,” the cited source explains.
The intervention operation involves a significant number of human and institutional resources. A total of 95 people have been mobilized from the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the National Army, the Police, the General Inspectorate of Carabinieri, and other structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Government team, together with representatives of the National Crisis Management Center, remains in Bălți to further assess the situation on the ground, to talk directly with local authorities, and to adapt intervention measures according to the real needs identified in the field.
The authorities emphasize that they remain mobilized and will continue to intervene to ensure the population’s access to vital resources, especially drinking water, as well as to protect the health and safety of citizens in the current context.
