VIDEO // Police investigate funding for participation in capital protest

Police of the Republic of Moldova announced that today cases were registered where individuals were paid to participate in a rally in the capital. Among those waiting for the promised money were two minors, aged 14 and 17 from Criuleni district.

According to the police, the girls were convinced over the phone by a man to take part in the protest in exchange for an amount of 300 lei, which was to be given to them at the end of the event.

The authorities stated that both the individuals who offered money and those who accepted financial rewards to participate in the rally will be documented. Police are conducting actions to establish the entire network involved in this illegal practice.

The institution emphasizes that it supports the exercise of the right to peaceful assembly, guaranteed by national legislation. However, any deviation from the legal framework, including influencing participants through material means, will be investigated and sanctioned according to the law.

A protest rally was held in the capital today, organized by several political parties.
