PHOTO // Moldovan canoeists win three bronze medals at Canoe Sprint World Championships in Canada

Three bronze medals were won by athletes from the Republic of Moldova at Canoe Sprint World Championships for Juniors and U23. The honors were claimed by Mihai Chihaia and Elena Glizan, who stepped onto the podium in their individual events and in the mixed canoe competition.

The first bronze medal was won by Mihai Chihaia in the men's single canoe event over a distance of 500 meters.

Later, Elena Glizan reached the podium in the women's sprint canoe event over 200 meters, finishing the race in 47.35 seconds. The world title was claimed by Irina Fiodoriv of Ukraine, while the silver medal went to Canadian athlete Elisabeth McArthur.

The third medal for the Republic of Moldova was obtained by Elena Glizan and Mihai Chihaia, who finished third in the mixed canoe event over a distance of 5,000 meters, with a time of 27:28.72. The race was won by the representatives of China, while the German team took second place.

Mihai Chihaia came very close to another medal, finishing fourth in the final of the men's individual sprint canoe event over 200 meters, just 0.25 seconds away from the podium.

A good result was also achieved by Teodor Răilean, who placed fifth in the men's individual sprint canoe event over 200 meters in the junior category.

The competition took place in Halifax, Canada, and brought together the best young canoeists in the world. The participation of the national team in the Sprint Canoe-Kayak World Championships for Juniors and U23 was financially supported by the Ministry of Education and Research.
