An international symposium dedicated to Queen Marie of Romania is taking place at the State University of Moldova. Aptly titled, Queen Marie – Queen of the Great Union, the event evokes the personality of Queen Marie, Her Majesty's role in the consolidation and modernization of Romania.
Queen Marie played a crucial role in Romania's destiny and evolution. During the war, she was involved in medical assistance, visited hospitals, boosted troops' morale and cared for the wounded soldiers of the Romanian Army on the front lines. For her courage displayed, she was nicknamed Soldier Queen and Mother of the Wounded.
Queen Marie believed in a modern and united Romania; she strengthened Romania's relations with the West, being considered the most beautiful face of the Romanian diplomacy.
