PHOTO GALLERY // Republic of Moldova, 34th anniversary of proclamation of Independence, captured by MOLDPRES

The Republic of Moldova celebrates the 34th anniversary of the proclamation of the Declaration of Independence; this has been a period marked by transformations, aspirations and challenges. From the early years, the people chose the path of democratic development. In 1994, President Mircea Snegur signed the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the European Union, which was to come into force four years later. The country joined the United Nations (1992), the Council of Europe (1995) and gained international recognition, establishing diplomatic relations with over 200 countries worldwide.

In 2014, Moldovans gained the right to travel visa-free in the Schengen area, and in the same year, the Moldovan authorities signed the Association Agreement with the European Union, a legal framework that still regulates the country's relations with the Brussels institutions.

Presently, the Republic of Moldova is a candidate state for EU membership, with a clear perspective of becoming a member of the European community by the 2030 year.

The entire journey of the Republic of Moldova was captured by the photojournalists of MOLDPRES.
