Discover Moldova with #MOLDPRES: Călărași lake - you can enjoy mornings with smell of water lilies
Near Călărași city, we discovered one of the quietest places in Moldova. "Nuferi pe lac" is a small tourist business of Chiriac family, which delights the public for the fourth season. We were lucky enough to visit the location in the rain and we assure you, the atmosphere is special.
Constantin Chiriac is a former policeman, and Tatiana Chiriac has worked as a judge. Both are currently employed by a charity.
"We are only here on Saturday and Sunday. During the week, we give attention and help to refugees", Constantin said.
Initially, the lake was designed for fishing purposes, but today it houses more than 25 water lily species.
“All you see here is the wife's idea. Tatiana is the one who wanted us to have a lake full of water lilies", Constantin Chiriac told us.
The idea originates from traditional Chinese culture.
The season of water lilies begins in late May, with the appearance of the first flowers.
According to him, water lily root resembles celery root. The stem is as long as the depth of the lake.
Chiriac family offers camping space in the area of the water lily lake. Teambuildings can be organized here as well. In the future, the couple plans to open a bookstore-cafe near the lake.
