
Donduseni authorities discussed rural development at roundtable
Chisinau, Dec. 16 / MOLDPRES /- Donduseni District Council hosted the first roundtable yesterday, organized as part of the Rethink Rural Moldova project.
According to Svetlana Rotaru, deputy head of the district, the event was attended by civil servants, specialists in various fields of activity, mayors, who exchanged views on the development of rural areas in the country, especially in the district. The participants found that there is a need for a change in the perception and concept of rural development in the Republic of Moldova, so that "the citizens of the villages can benefit".
The discussions and dialogue, guided by Natalia Zaiaț, the administrator of the AO “Bunăvoință-Sudarca”, were based on data and evidence on the realities and needs of rural development in our country, and directly in the localities of Dondușeni district.
The activity is part of the “Rethink Rural Moldova” project, implemented by the Institute for Rural Initiatives (iRi) and the local partner AO “Bunăvoință-Sudarca”, with the support of the US Embassy in Chisinau.
The project is being implemented between June 2021 and July 2022 and aims to change / update the perception and concept of rural development in Moldova in order to incorporate and institutionalize cooperation between local public administration and local civic groups. The project will invite representatives of civil society, government and other actors to adopt a broader understanding of rural development, especially in cooperation with civil society and local citizens, while creating opportunities for local and regional communities (NGOs). professional groups, government officials, town halls, regional development offices and experts) to interact and discuss this topic.
