Moldova and Kazakhstan strengthen cooperation

The priorities on the agenda of Moldovan-Kazakh relations and areas of cooperation that could benefit citizens of both countries were analyzed during a meeting held in New York between Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi.

“We have good relations with Kazakhstan and want to continue developing them. The opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Astana in 2025 is an important step in this regard and gives us the opportunity to work on joint initiatives through direct contacts and closer ties between people, institutions, and business communities,” said Mihai Popșoi.

The officials also discussed boosting trade and attracting Kazakh investors to the Republic of Moldova, examining potential projects in the energy sector, with a focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

In this context, they considered the possibility to organize in the near future a meeting of the Moldovan-Kazakh Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation. This will help identify and establish areas of cooperation.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Kazakhstan were established on September 16, 1992.

Popșoi is paying a working visit to New York, the United States of America, this week. The official is part of the national delegation led by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, attending the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and related events.
