Mayoralty of central Moldovan town presents two projects after one-year of work
Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/ - The mayoralty of the central Telenesti town today organized an open doors day within two projects on regional development, carried out with the help of foreign partners, local authorities and natives.
The Telenesti event started at the sports complex, Dealul Mare (Big Hill), where the mayoralty’s cup in mini-football and volley ball took place. Afterwards, a meeting was held at the station of purifying residual waters, during which the stages of implementation of this project, with exchange of experience, were presented.
The sports complex was inaugurated in the Telenesti town in November 2017, as a result of a project carried out by the settlement’s mayoralty, in partnership with the Association of Natives, Brotherhood of Telenesti Residents from Everywhere, with the support of the Migration and Local Development Project, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme, with the financial support of the Swiss government.
„The southern zone of the Telenesti town is the most populated from the settlement. As many as 750 residents live here, of whom 230 young people and 125 children, with one or both parents left abroad. Nevertheless, there was no leisure, sport infrastructure and proper socialization in the concerned zone. For this reason, the children, especially those whose parents are left abroad, were playing on road or had to cover large distances to find a well-arranged ground and elderly people did not have places to communicate. Yet, now all residents of the town, including 700 pupils of the Mihai Eminescu gymnasium and 120 children of the sports school, have access to quality sports services,” Telenesti mayor Vadim Lelic said.
The project on the construction of the district water-purifying station and development of the public system of sewerage and purification of residual waters at the inter-community level was finished in the summer of 2017 and had a budget of about 30 million lei. About 74 per cent of the money was allocated from the National Regional Development Fund, almost half a million of dollars represents the financing on behalf of the U.S. Agency for International Development and the rest is the contribution of the Telenesti mayoralty. Within this project, about 18 km of sewerage network was built in the Inesti village and Telenesti town, a water purification station was constructed in Telenesti, with a capacity of 700 cubic metres per day, three pumping stations in Inesti and in the district centre. As a result, more than 11,000 persons have already improved access to the sewerage system.
