Over 130 children from Gura Galbenei benefit from modern educational services
Chisinau, June 8. /MOLDPRES/- Over 130 children from Gura Galbenei village, Cimişlia district, will enjoy better preschool education services, thanks to the USAID's support. The project's official launch event took place yesterday, with the participation of IREX President Kristin Lord, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Moldova.
"This project is future-oriented: by improving the preschool infrastructure, the local authorities, with the support of My Community Program, have contributed to the creation of a safe, friendly environment conducive to learning and development, which will last for generations. It is a project that represents a model of community involvement, following the principles of democratic inclusion, which could be applied to other community initiatives in the future", Kristin Lord said.
The rehabilitation works of the kindergarten began in July 2022 and were implemented by Gura Galbenei town hall with the support of technical assistance and co-financing granted by USAID Moldova through My Community Program. Thanks to the renovation of the kindergarten building in Gura Galbenei, more preschool education services have become available in the locality.
The total cost of the project is $174,799. My Commuity is an eight-year program, funded by USAID and implemented by IREX, aimed at strengthening local governance and providing technical assistance to local public authorities in Moldova to ensure efficient, transparent and accountable governance to citizens. Since 2018, the Program has provided support to 92 communities and 1.3 million citizens. The total amount of USAID investments in My Community program during the 8 years of implementation will be 35.5 million US dollars.
