Porumbrei-Cimișlia road of European importance put into operation
Chisinau, Nov. 9 /MOLDPRES/- Porumbrei-Cimișlia road was put into operation yesterday, in the presence of the country's leadership. The new section belongs to the M3 route, the Chisinau-Giurgiulești road, which is part of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) - one of the priorities of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.
According to the State Road Administration (ASD), the opening of the road will considerably streamline the flow of transport and free local routes from the traffic of heavy tonnage cars, it will also reduce the travel time of drivers, and citizens will walk on a designed road and executed according to European standards.
The construction of 19 km of road, part of the national route M3 Porumbrei-Cimișlia, began in 2019 and has a value of 30 million euros, money borrowed by the Government from the European Investment Bank.
During the last 10 years, the European Union and Team Europe, through the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, have provided significant support for improving connectivity through the development of the road transport network of the Republic of Moldova. Thus, the Republic of Moldova benefited from over one billion euros for transport infrastructure, for roads and railways. More than 700 km of roads and 200 km of railways have been or will be rehabilitated with EU support.
