Cahul city of Moldova hosts 18th edition of White Water Lily international festival

The southern city of Cahul transforms into a true center of traditions, colors, and folk sounds, hosting the 18th edition of the White Water Lily International Folklore Festival on July 2-5. During four days, the city will vibrate to authentic rhythms in a celebration of cultural diversity, bringing together folk bands from 11 countries.

In addition to the formations from Moldova, artists from Cyprus, Macedonia, Romania, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine, Turkey, Bulgaria, Poland, and Georgia will take the festival stage — each bringing dances, costumes and songs that reflect the unique characteristics of their regions.

The event begins on July 2, coinciding with the Municipality Day of Cahul, and provides a festive evening with a brass band, traditional costume parade, and an anniversary concert featuring beloved names such as the Advahov Brothers Orchestra, Fuego, Ioana Capraru, and Stela Botez.

In the following evenings, spectators can enjoy performances by local and international ensembles, with the nights ending with the traditional “Friendship Dance” — a symbol of the bond between nations through music and dance.

The festival will end spectacularly under a sky lit by fireworks.

Moreover, each day of the festival, visitors can discover the beauty of traditional crafts at an artisan exhibition and enjoy local dishes in the gastronomic area specially set up for the event.

Organized by the city hall of Cahul and its partners, the White Water Lily Festival brings communities and cultures together in a true celebration of authentic values, providing the public an experience full of emotion, color and tradition.
