Fifty nine young people of Moldova complete paid internship programme in public service

Fifty-nine young people have completed the 2026 edition of the Joint Internship Programme of the Government and the European Union. The young participants received their graduation certificates during a ceremony attended by Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov, Deputy Secretary General of the Government Lilia Dabija, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation Máté Csicsai and Ambassador of Denmark Søren Jensen.

During two months, the participants worked in host institutions, being guided by mentors and taking part in training sessions and discussions with national and international officials and experts. Each intern received a monthly stipend of 250 euros.

The selection process was competitive. Almost 200 applications were submitted, and candidates went through a pre-selection stage and an interview in Romanian and English, in front of a panel made up of representatives of the EU Delegation, the government and the project “Moldova is Europe.” The assessment focused on knowledge of EU–Moldova relations, level of English, motivation and skills relevant for work in public institutions.

Graduates who got positive evaluations may be employed directly by the host institution, provided that they complete an additional practical internship.

“We want more and more well-trained young people to see public service as a real career option. Institutions need competence, energy and people who want to contribute to the country’s modernization and to our European path. We encourage the participants in this programme to make full use of the experience they have gained and to stay close to public administration,” said Deputy Secretary General of the Government Lilia Dabija.

Since the launch of the initiative in 2022, over 200 young people have participated in the programme. The programme continues to offer young people an opportunity to gain professional experience and to start a career in public service.
