Lithuanian Ambassador to Moldova awarded Order of Honour

The Presidency of the Republic of Moldova

President Maia Sandu today bestowed the Order of Honour upon Ambassador of Lithuania to Moldova Tadas Valionis, at the conclusion of his mandate in Chisinau. The distinction was granted for his contribution to strengthening the Moldovan–Lithuanian relations and for his constant support for the European path of Moldova.

During the period 2022–2026, the bilateral dialogue intensified significantly: over 40 visits by Lithuanian officials to Moldova took place at presidential, governmental and parliamentary levels. Lithuania shared its own experience of negotiating EU accession, expanded assistance projects with a focus on democratic resilience, strategic communication and combating disinformation, as well as on cybersecurity and committed to providing Moldova with 6 million euros in military assistance for the period 2026–2028.

Lithuania will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2027 and has announced EU enlargement among its priorities.
