Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/ - The last Sunday was about theatre. The closing of the Meeting of the Romanian National Theatres took place at the Luceafarul Republican Theatre on 22 September. This Meeting closed with a premiere, which marked also the opening of the season of the Luceafarul Theatre – the play Liliom by Ferenc Molnar, stage management of Andrei Hutuleac. ‘’This was an intense story and full of contradictions, which I recommend that you watch from the bottom of my heart,’’ Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan has said.

„We thus celebrated, on 22 September evening, along with the actors and the audience, the end of the ninth edition of the Meeting of Romanian National Theatres. I am happy that, this autumn, we managed to organize a holiday of theatre, with very good plays, with names of legend and exceptional vibrant events. The proof of this represented also the halls full to the brim - even when it seemed that the rain blocked all roads in the city. Not also the road to the Temple of Theatre,’’ Sergiu Prodan also said.

The minister thanked all those who had contributed and helped for this magic, behind which there is a great human effort, to happen. ‘’The theatres’ managers, creation and technical teams, actors and stage managers, theatre critics and journalists – all of you are part of this holiday of culture, which took place in Chisinau again,’’ Sergiu Prodan noted.

The audience was invited to 46 events at the ninth edition of the Meeting of the Romanian National Theatres: 27 plays in halls and in open air; eight auditions of radio plays; ten conferences, book launches, meetings with intellectuals, creators and culture people, as well as six premieres.

For the fourth year in a row, the Meeting of the Romanian National Theatres enjoyed the High Presidential Patronage, provided by Moldova’s President Maia Sandu and Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis. Initiated and organized by the Mihai Eminescu National Theatre, the event was financed by Moldova’s Culture Ministry, the Romanian Cultural Ministry, the Romanian Cultural Institute and its representation in Chisinau, the Mihai Eminescu Romanian Cultural Institute.
