Moldovan PM meets Romania's foreign affairs minister

The solid relations between Moldova and Romania have been discussed at a  meeting between Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Romania's Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Toiu, on an official visit to Chisinau.

The dialogue focused on ways to further develop the Moldovan-Romanian bilateral partnership and Romania's firm support for Moldova’s European path.

‘’We want to continue working together, with confidence, in order to deepen our strategic partnership and achieve irreversible rapprochement with the European Union. The progress of Moldova on the European path is also due to Romania's constant support,’’ said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

Romania's Foreign Affairs Minister Oana-Silvia Toiu said that the strategic partnership between Chisinau and Bucharest was based on mutual trust and solidarity and Romania would stay a voice for Moldova in the European Union.

The officials referred to the numerous ongoing joint projects in essential areas, such as energy, infrastructure, education, culture and public order. The most important current projects are related to energy interconnection - the construction of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau and Balti-Suceava electrical lines, as well as road infrastructure – the construction of the bridge across the Prut River at Ungheni and four other road bridges.

As for the economic cooperation, the officials emphasized that Romania stayed Moldova’s principal trading partner and maintained the first position in the ranking of foreign investors in Moldova, both in terms of investment volume and the number of foreign enterprises operating in the country.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean highlighted the interest in attracting Romanian investments in modernizing the energy and agro-food sectors, especially in equipment that will allow the processing of high value-added products meant for export to the European market.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Romania's Foreign Minister also referred to collaboration in the field of cybersecurity, essential in order to counter disinformation campaigns and risks related to cyberattacks.
