Average purchase price of electricity 144 euro/MWh in Moldova in last January
The Energocom company purchased a total volume of 478.233 thousand MWh of electricity in January at a weighted average price of 144.52 euro/MWh.
For comparison, in December 2025, Energocom bought a total volume of 458.15 thousand MWh of electricity at a weighted average price of 132.57 euro/MWh.
According to Energocom, acquisition costs do not include taxes and expenses related to transmission, capacity reservation and other logistical costs.
The electricity demand for January was covered both from domestic sources and from imports. Thus, 56.25 per cent of the total volume of electricity was covered by imports, while 43.75 per cent came from domestic producers.
At the same time, 29.36 per cent of the purchased electricity was procured through bilateral contracts with suppliers and producers from Romania, while 26.89 per cent was acquired through the BRM (Romanian Commodity Exchange) and OPCOM trading platforms.
Since 1 January 2025, the right bank of the Dniester River has no longer been receiving electricity from the Kuchurgan Power Plant, after the Russian concern Gazprom stopped deliveries of natural gas to Moldova. Under these conditions, consumption is covered from domestic sources and imports.
