ANRE reduced electricity prices for Premier Energy and FEE Nord consumers

The Board of Directors of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) today approved at a public meeting the new regulated prices for the electricity supply.

Thus, consumers in the north of the country, served by Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord company will pay 3.95 lei per kWh, by 0.05 lei less than at present. At the same time, the tariff for consumers in the central and southern regions of the country, served by Premier Energy company will decrease by 0.03 lei and will be 3.56 lei.

ANRE decided to reduce the tariffs after examining the applications submitted by the two suppliers, who had requested price increases. The new tariffs will enter into force once ANRE’s decision is published in the Official Journal. The last change in the electricity tariff was approved by ANRE in the summer of last year, when electricity became cheaper by up to 68 bani per kWh. Currently, residents in the north of the country pay 4 lei for one kWh, while the tariff for consumers in the center and south is 3.59 lei.

ANRE has also set tariffs for the supplier of last resort service, applicable for the second quarter of 2026. This mechanism guarantees the continuous supply of electricity for consumers who are temporarily left without a supplier. The prices for this service will be 355 bani/kWh for Premier Energy and 400 bani/kWh for FEE Nord (for low-voltage networks).

A novelty of the current methodology is the approval of differentiated prices depending on the time-of-use consumption intervals, a measure intended to reflect the real cost of energy during peak periods compared to hours with low demand.

According to the regulator, these price cuts are based on lower transmission and distribution costs, as well as the need to ensure a balance between the financial stability of market operators and the protection of citizens’ purchasing power. The new tariffs will enter into force once the decisions are published in the Official Journal.
