Chisinau-based Eugen Doga International Airport ends 2025 year with record results, accelerated increase in air traffic
The 2025 year ended with outstanding performances for the Chisinau-based Eugen Doga International Airport, which confirms it position of main air hub of Moldova and a regional hub in a continuous development. The traffic indicators show a solid trend of growth, backed by the extension of the network of destinations and boosting of the cooperation with international air operators.
During the 12 months of the 2025 year, the airport recorded a total traffic of 6,080,431 passengers. The annual plan was fulfilled at 106.8 per cent, which is by 46.8 per cent more against the year before, an equivalent to 1,938,018 additional passengers.
"In December 2025 alone, the passengers’ flow amounted to 469,385 people, up by 41.8 per cent compared to December 2024, i.e. +138,444 passengers. On the same period, 3,664 aircraft movements were recorded, 39.3 per cent more than in December of the previous year. Air cargo transport activity amounted to 297.7 tons, the forecast being achieved at the level of 106.3 per cent, confirming the diversification and consolidation of airport operations," the airport said.
The most important increases in passengers’ flow in 2025 were recorded on the following routes: Sharm el-Sheikh – +9,311 passengers, Bucharest – +9,295 passengers, Paris – +7,614 passengers, Istanbul – +6,780 passengers, Tel Aviv – +6,549 passengers, Brussels – +6,217 passengers, Barcelona – +5,961 passengers, Larnaca – +5,748 passengers, Dubai – +5,475 passengers, Yerevan – +5,205 passengers.
According to the cited source, the new destinations introduced into the flights’ network attracted, in December alone, 59,397 passengers, which represents 9.52 per cent of total monthly traffic, confirming the growing interest in diversified air connections.
The most demanded new destinations were Brussels (Charleroi) – 7,037 passengers, Naples – 5,942 passengers, Dortmund – 5,584 passengers, Nuremberg – 5,576 passengers, Memmingen – 4,468 passengers, Karlsruhe – 3,928 passengers, Alicante – 3,882 passengers, Sofia – 3,676 passengers, Katowice – 3,575 passengers, Bari – 3,338 passengers, Billund – 3,248 passengers.
