DOC // Economic resources of individuals targeted by international sanctions frozen by Tax Service

The State Tax Service (SFS) has ordered the freezing of funds and financial resources belonging to several individuals targeted by international sanctions. The orders to this effect, signed by the SFS director, Olga Golban, were published today in the Official Journal.

The individuals concerned are Iuri Vitneanski and Ruslan Garbalî.

The decisions to freeze the funds are sent for information to the Intelligence and Security Service, the Interinstitutional Supervisory Council, the National Bank of Moldova, and the persons concerned.

Iuri Vitneanski is a member of the “Renaissance” Party, while Ruslan Garbalî is the head of the Vulcănești territorial organization of the same formation. They are accused of “being involved in actions allegedly aimed at undermining democratic processes and influencing public opinion in favor of groups affiliated with Ilan Shor.”

By a decision of the Council of the European Union, approved on June 15, Iuri Vitneanski and Ruslan Garbalî were added, together with three other persons, including the former governor of the Gagauz Territorial Autonomous Unit (UTA) Gagauzia, Irina Vlah, to the EU sanctions list for their alleged involvement in actions to destabilize the Republic of Moldova, including through influence operations financed by the Russian Federation and vote-buying schemes ahead of the 2025 parliamentary elections.
