Agriculture Minister announces dismissal of state secretary detained by CNA: I strongly condemn any form of corruption

The state secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, detained this morning by officers of the National Anticorruption Center, will be dismissed from office. Minister Ludmila Catlabuga announced that she will not tolerate in any way abuse or favoritism and will “immediately initiate the dismissal procedure”.

“ I strongly condemn any form of corruption and I will not tolerate in any way abuse or favoritism,” the minister stated.

“Today, the NAC and the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office carried out procedural actions in connection with a state secretary of the ministry. I will immediately initiate the procedure for dismissing the state secretary targeted in the investigations. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry will fully cooperate with law enforcement bodies and will provide all the necessary information to shed light on this case,” the minister assured.

At the same time, Catlabuga emphasized that she will not comment on the details of the case, noting that only law enforcement institutions are competent to investigate the facts and establish all the circumstances. A state secretary within the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) and the representative of an economic agent were detained today in a criminal case initiated on corruption charges.

According to the NAC, the representative of the economic agent allegedly transferred money to the state secretary so that he would influence persons with decision-making powers within the National Food Safety Agency in order to reinstate the permission to import feed for birds and animals from Ukraine. Previously, the import procedure had been suspended by the NFSA after irregularities were found during inspections.
