Parliament to hold public hearings on living and housing conditions of foreign workers Moldova
Parliament will hold public hearings on the living and housing conditions of foreign workers, following the appearance in the public space of information about people accommodated in railway carriages near the municipality of Chișinău. The proposal was put forward today by Marina Morozova, Member of Parliament from the Action and Solidarity Party, at the legislative sitting.
Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the General Inspectorate for Migration, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, the General Police Inspectorate and other competent institutions will take part in the hearings.
“In recent days, a situation has emerged in the public space regarding the living and housing conditions of some foreign workers, placed in railway carriages near the municipality of Chișinău. Thus, there are signals regarding sanitary risks and possible violations of public health regulations, occupational safety rules, as well as the regime of stay and employment of these foreign citizens. In this context, we request the organization of parliamentary hearings. During these hearings, the competent institutions will inform us under what circumstances these workers were accommodated, what the real situation is regarding their living and hygiene conditions. We will also discuss the regulatory framework in the field of migration,” emphasized Marina Morozova.
The parliamentary public hearings will be held on Tuesday, July 7 of this year. According to information that has appeared in the public space, several foreign workers employed in the Republic of Moldova are allegedly living in poor conditions in several railway carriages located near the capital.
