Household appliances to have energy labels
Chisinau, Oct. 26 /MOLDPRES/- Household appliances will be accompanied by labels with information about their energy efficiency and impact. MPs adopted a project in the second reading today.
The appliance labels will include information about their energy efficiency, consumption of energy or other resources, as well as other additional information. Thus, on each product that is sold in the store or online, the energy label is to be displayed, with information about the product's energy class and electricity consumption. This will allow citizens to choose more efficient products to reduce their energy consumption.
The State Inspectorate for Non-Food Products Surveillance and Consumer Protection will be the administrative authority responsible for compliance by suppliers and traders with the legal provisions regarding product labeling. If the Authority finds irregularities, it is entitled to apply sanctions to the agents in accordance with the provisions of the Contravention Code.
The draft law on labeling products with an energy impact was set up by the Ministry of Energy in the context of the harmonization of legislation in the energy efficiency with the EU acquis.
