Moldova, Turkey sign protocol on cooperation in diverse sectors

Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova sand Turkey have signed a protocol on cooperation in diverse strategic sectors. The document covers 16 priority fields on the Moldovan-Turkish bilateral agenda, among which: energy, transport and logistics, regional development, urbanism, rural sector’s development, agriculture, education and health, culture and tourism, cinematography, works on restoration of historical monuments, development of tourist products, etc.   

The signing ceremony took place at the tenth meeting of the Moldovan-Turkish inter-governmental commission for commercial and economic cooperation, held in Ankara. The document was signed by the head of the Commission, Economics Minister Sergiu Gaibu and Health Minister of Turkey Fahrettin Koca.  

The sides agreed on the extension of the quotas provided within the free trade agreement to the agricultural products and starting of negotiations on commerce with services, as well as the enforcement of instruments for the promotion of business and facilitation of trade. At the same time, the sides agreed on the cooperation on the dimension of standardization, accrediting and evaluation of conformity, encouraging investments in the industry sector and development of scientific and technological innovations, cooperation in the agricultural sector.    

To back the cooperation and development of Free Economic Zones (FEZ), Sergiu Gaibu and Turkish Trade Minister Mehmet Mus signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of FEZ. The Memorandum’s goal is to establish a long-term bilateral cooperation in the sector of Free Economic Zones and to enhance the efficiency of the industrial platforms and bilateral investments between participants, through organizing periodical consultations and involvement in bilateral activities.
