
Moldovan cabinet approves decision on creation of first IT park in Moldova
Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/ - The first park for information technology, Moldova IT park, will start working beginning with 1 January 2018. The park is set up for a ten-year period, under a decision adopted at a today cabinet meeting.
The capacity of resident of the park can be got by any legal entity or private person who is registered in Moldova as subject of the entrepreneurial activity and who carries out/is set to carry out, as main activity, one or more activities of services in information technology. Main activity means the work which generates 70 per cent or more of the incomes from sales of the Park’s resident.
The main goal of the park is to create an organizational platform with a string of mechanisms and innovative facilities needed to boost the growth of the information technology industry, create new jobs and attract local and foreign investments. The park aims at turning to good account opportunities of IT industry’s growth through the implementation of a predictable and motivating regulatory framework via the facilitation of the tax system and business administration system.
The period of work of the Park is set to be of ten years; during this time, about 400 IT companies are to be attracted. Thirty one IT companies are expected to become residents of the Park in the first year of activity.
In late last October, 15 IT companies from Moldova signed an application to the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry on the setting up of the first IT Park, Moldova IT park. The goals of the concerned project is to provide mechanisms of consultancy and support for the new IT firms, increase the investments in the activities of IT companies residents of the park. Also, another goal is to establish international partnerships for the transfer of knowledge and technology in the IT sector, including by the involvement of foreign IT professionals.
The government has recently approved the amendment of six normative acts in the tax sector, as well as in the one of social insurances and mandatory health insurances, in order to bring them in line with the provisions of the law on parks for information technology. According to this legislative act, one of the facilities provided by the state to IT parks’ residents consists in levying a single state tax of seven percent on incomes from sales, but not less than a minimum sum set per one employee.
The cabinet of ministers approved also a regulation on the organization and work of the administration of the park for information technology, as well as registration of the residents of the Moldova IT park.
