Belgian foreign affairs minister says Belgium support Moldova's European aspirations

Belgium firmly supports the European aspirations of Moldova, which has taken bold steps, often under difficult circumstances, to promote reforms. Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, and Development Cooperation of Belgium Maxime Prévot has made statements to this effect, following a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi in Brussels.

The discussions focused on strengthening the Moldovan-Belgian bilateral relations, with an emphasis on expanding economic and sectoral cooperation for the benefit of the citizens of both countries.

Minister Maxime Prévot conveyed a clear message of support for Moldova on its European path.

'The place of Moldova is in the European Union. Belgium firmly supports the European aspirations of Moldova, which has taken bold steps, often under difficult circumstances, to promote reforms. We also appreciate the resilience shown in the face of hybrid threats. Belgium stays a trustworthy partner and we will continue to stand by Moldova,’’ said the official.

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi thanked the Kingdom of Belgium for the support provided to Moldova.

‘’I thanked Belgium for its active support in the European integration process of Moldova, including during the Belgian presidency of the EU Council, when our country officially launched the negotiations on accession to the European Union,’’ emphasized Mihai Popsoi.

Also, Mihai Popsoi invited his Belgian counterpart to visit Moldova.
