Moldova reconfirms commitment to Francophonie values, international parliamentary cooperation

The delegation of Moldova has unveiled, at the 50th General Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF), held in Paris, a report on the political and security situation in Moldova. The rapporteurs presented the country as a state deeply committed to the path of European integration, despite the tense geopolitical context.

According to a press release of the parliament, the document showed the main developments from January to June 2025, analyzing the results of the presidential elections and the constitutional referendum of 2024, as well as the challenges related to external influences, the effects of the war in Ukraine and the Transnistrian file.

Besides the activities in commissions, the delegation of Moldova, led by MP Marcela Adam, participated in the meetings of the Network of Women Parliamentarians and the Network of Young Parliamentarians, contributing to the exchange of good practices regarding civic engagement and gender equality in decision-making processes.

Marcela Adam reaffirmed Moldova's support for promoting democracy, education in the French language and combating misinformation.

For the period 2024–2025, APF approved supporting more initiatives in favor of the Moldova’s parliament, including French language courses for lawmakers and officials, as well as organizing a seminar in Chisinau, focused on strengthening capacities to combat fake news and misinformation.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie is composed of 95 member, associated, or observer sections, representing national or regional parliaments from different countries which share Francophonie values.

The parliament of Moldova has been an associated member of the APF since 1998 and is actively get involved in parliamentary cooperation programmes, conducted under the Assembly's aegis.
