Moldovan cabinet takes into account three scenarios of evolution in energy sector for 2023-2024 winter
Chisinau, 22 May /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s government takes into account three scenarios of evolution in the energy sector in the 2023-2024 winter. Energy Minister Victor Parlicov and Vice-President of the European Commission for Interinstitutional Relations Maroš Šefčovič in Brussels have discussed a plan on the preparation for the next cold season and the progress made as to the transposition of the European legislation and Moldova’s integration into the European energy market.
„Just as last year, Moldova’s cabinet take into account three scenarios in the energy sector for the 2023-2024 winter - a plan which is in the phase of public consultations and is to be adopted in next June; yet, the country is much more prepared than one year ago,’’ Minister Victor Parlicov said.
According to the official, the companies from the field have the experience of electric energy and gas procurements from EU, of the synchronization to the European markets and Energocom has recently participated in the first tender through the EU Energy Platform.
„We are determined to change the legal and regulatory framework, in order to create a true energy market, reduce the dependence on Russia and diversify the supply sources. We want to attract investments and new technologies in the sector, to focus major projects to fields with impact for citizens, as, for instance, the residential energy efficiency fund, which we want to launch this year already,’’ the energy minister noted.
Energy Minister Victor Parlicov is in Brussels, on the sidelines of the fourth high-level European Union-Moldova meeting in the energy sector, due on 23 May.
