Moldovan Chamber of Commerce and Industry marks 107 years since institution's foundation, 100 years since first exhibition staged in Bessarabia
Moldova’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) has marked, through a special event, the 107th anniversary of the institution's foundation and 100 years since the first exhibition in Bessarabia. Participants in this event highlighted the transformations the institution had gone through over the years and its role as a promoter of development and support of the business environment.
CCI President Sergiu Harea said that the chamber institution prided itself on its work, being responsible for organizing over 60 exhibition activities annually, both domestically and internationally, with the purpose of supporting and promoting local producers.
"One hundred years after the first exhibition in Bessarabia, the CCI is proud of what it does, because the institution organizes the largest exhibition in the country: ‘Made in Moldova’, attended by 350-450 companies. Additionally, in last August, we launched a new exhibition – ‘Local Product’, which hosted over 150 companies," said the CCI president.
Sergiu Harea also said that CCI had signed 178 collaboration agreements with chamber institutions from 78 countries.
"The Chamber is a platform for discussions. Just this year, we examined over 100 normative acts, laws, government decisions and decrees to support and promote local companies," emphasized the official.
The CCI president stressed the need to strengthen industry growth, increase exports and help local companies identify new markets.
"Together, we want to relaunch Moldova's industry, to create a strong future for the national economy. (...) It is important to internationalize companies and increase exports. This is part of the economic diplomacy we undertake as a chamber institution," Sergiu Harea noted.
Contacted by Moldpres, Sergiu Harea presented the main priorities of the chamber institution for 2026.
"CCI has a 107-year history and has evolved over more than a century of activity through the services it provides to the business environment, the support it gives to entrepreneurs to develop both domestically and internationally, and by ensuring dialogue with local and central public authorities. The priorities for 2026 are supporting the local producers at home and abroad, contributing to the advancement of the European integration process and making Moldovan entrepreneurs known abroad by participating in exhibitions, fairs and bilateral missions. Another priority is supporting the creation of new enterprises, so that our young people benefit from jobs at home," Sergiu Harea said.
Present at the event, the head of the parliamentary commission for economy, budget, and finance, MP Radu Marian emphasized the important role of cooperation between authorities and the business environment, ensuring robust economic development, especially in the context of advancing the European integration process.
"The Chamber of Commerce is not just an organization busy with promoting business interests in Moldova, but also a partner for us. We are glad to have them by our side; we have a very good cooperation and there is much work ahead. We have a direction set by citizens, to become a member of the European Union in the next four years, and we won't be able to do this without good cooperation with the business environment. I want to assure you of every support for cooperation, so that we can find solutions together and develop Moldova," said Radu Marian.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova is the largest business association of the country, encompassing over 1,850 members, including large, small, and medium enterprises from all branches of the national economy. The institution is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the European Association of Chambers of Commerce (EUROCHAMBRES). The CCI system comprises 10 branches that provide necessary assistance to companies, legal entities and individuals throughout the country.
